I am sure you have heard of this book as it has been on the bestseller list for more than a whole year. I have also read that there will be a movie coming in the summer of 2006 based on this book. I am reading it now and I was wondering if there are others here who have read it or are reading it and would like to discuss it. Star

yes I have read it. Laden with undertones of sex and religion, the book was a seat grabber at some points. A good read if you aske me and very imformative too. I did some research into the cult the www.odan.com website that is referred in the book and it really does exsist. I can say though, I would have never guessed the ending of the book though.

I am in chapter 56 and I have a feeling that the end will somehow come full circle. The outcome will be something so common so interwoven in our lives that it is before us everyday and yet we don't see it. The whole book is based on symbols and codes that are in daily plain view bt we don't see because we don't know how to see them. So I expect the ending to be something like that. Star

I wasn't such a fan actually. Some really interesting facts there, and I can see why it caused the controversy it did, but, as a book I thought it was tackily written, cheesy in it's characterisation and profoundly unsubtle. There were no undertones of sexual unrest or religious conspiracy and revolutionism because we were hit over the head with them. repeatedly. I guess I just think that a much better book could have been made from such interesting subject matter. I'll tell you what though, it'll make a great conspiracy/action flic. And I heard Tom Hanks is being cast as Langdon, which, if true, couldn't be more suited.

it was the best. The pagan stuff is accurate, and it was so factual in places and so deep, it was the best. Also check out angels and demons by the same author, it's not as good but cool not the less also based on fact. I have my doubts about it's ability as a movie however

Yes fabolous, when I went to buy the 'Code' the saleswoman suggested that I also buy the 'Angels and Demons' but I wanted to see if I liked his writting style first before buying another book of his. Resonant, I do agree that it did have some cheesy stuff like the "square jaw of Langdon and his sexy voice" also him being a bachelor and the Sophie being single as well. It also had some inaccurances especially about the albino character. People with albinism suffer from visual problems due to the fact that there is no pigment in their retinas as well. This fact was omitted in the 'Code'. I will also agree with you that the whole feminity/deity/goddess was a bit overdone. But, I do agree with the author that the female side of deity was removed when Christianity took over. The book kind of repeats the theme over and over and over and it ends up being a bit boring. "Once was enough we got the idea, please go on" was my thought. All and all, I do like the 'Code' and I hope I will like the movie too. Star

Resonant, I'm with you all the way. I'd like to add that the ending was just a plain and simple letdown (without going into details), and that most of the so-called facts are actually more in the realm of theory...

Ok, now that's I've posted that message, I'm feeling guilty for being so crabby about it... Although I stand behind what I've said, I should have also added that it was a pretty entertaining read.

It was that. And no worse than so many fast-paced action/adventure thriller novels, which are lots of fun. I guess, seeing it discussed as a serious text and a counterculture religious theory, I was expecting something more, somehow.

I like gnosticism, and I haven't read the book, but somehow I don't expect that much from it. I'll get to it someday!

Forget "Angels and Demons"..y'all should read the "Illuminatus!" trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson instead!

I might take your advice Metal and seek the 'Illuminatus' instead of the 'Angels and Demons' but could you give me a general idea what it is about? Star
